OhmConnect can help you skip your electricity bill for a year

How much do you spend each month on your electric bill? Between blowing out the air conditioner during the summer and heating up the heat during the winter, you probably spend over a thousand dollars each year just to keep your lights on.

Wouldn’t it be nice to skip that bill – all year long?

Thanks to a company called Ohm ConnectAnd you might be able to.

How to Skip Your Energy Bill for a Year

OhmConnect is a free service that works with all the major energy companies in California to pay people to save energy when it matters most to the power grid and the environment.

when you Create an account with OhmConnect And linking your utility account, you’ll receive a text message about once a week when a lot of people in your area are using energy, and they ask you to reduce your energy use by an hour. If you save energy, OhmConnect pays you cash.

Much easier: let the smart plug do the work for you. As long as you use less power than usual during those ohm hours, you’ll get paid – not to mention you’ll likely see a lower energy bill each month.

One couple, Michael and Tiffany Edgerl, of Bakersfield, California, managed to earn more than $1,200 in just three months using OhmConnect — enough to pay their entire electric bill for the year.

“When we hit $1,000 in less than three months, I couldn’t believe it,” Michael says. “We made that amount of money from something we didn’t even know a few weeks ago!”

About half of their earnings come from OhmHours payments, and the other half comes from credits for referring people they know to the program. Michael says his family uses smart thermostats and smart plugs to make things easier.

how to start

Canceling your electric bill is not an option, but making enough free money to pay it off is an option. Here’s how Californians who use PG&E, SDG&E, or Southern California Edison can create an account with OhmConnect.

  1. Sync with your utility account online through PG&E, SDG&E, or Southern California Edison.
  2. Receive energy usage notifications during ‘OhmHours’ and ‘AutoOhms’ – times of high energy consumption that lead to energizing non-green power plants in order to support the overburdened grid.
  3. Head outside or at least turn off the TV for OhmHour to work. If you have a smart plug connected to any of your devices, it will turn off automatically during these times of high usage.
  4. That’s it! OhmConnect rewards you with cash to reduce power consumption and help prevent blackouts.
