Publix, a Florida-based grocery chain with more than 1,280 stores across seven states in the southeastern United States, is looking to add 30,000 employees by the end of 2021.
The popular supermarket chain says its hiring spree in the last quarter includes positions in its stores, distribution centers and manufacturing facilities. The company did not specify the starting salary or salary range for the new positions. The search on the company’s job portal, jobs.publix.com, listed a specific Orlando warehouse location—which includes pulling products into stores—with a base salary of between $20.80 and $30 an hour.
Many companies are trying to boost their workforce before the holidays, but Publix is among the growing trend of companies hiring mostly permanent and off-season employees this year. And major retailers like Amazon and Walmart have also recently announced hundreds of thousands of new off-season roles for party-goers that could run into 2022 and beyond.
“As we continue to grow, having a dedicated team ready to meet our needs is critical,” Publix Vice President of Human Resources Marcy Benton said in the hiring announcement.
Publix permanent jobs have some attractive perks, including:
- An employee stock ownership plan that contributes Publix stock to partners each year at no cost to them.
- Annual cash leave bonuses.
- 401(k) with a company match.
- A group health plan (with prescription benefits), a dental plan, and a vision plan.
- Tuition fee payment benefits.
Publix encourages new employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19, but does not require it. Helpers who get vaccinated can get a $125 gift card from Publix.
Several positions in companies—including systems analysts, software engineers, and marketing developers—are located at the company’s headquarters in Lakeland, Florida. You can search for jobs by entering your city or zip code. You can also browse for jobs that match your LinkedIn profile.

Publix is among the fastest growing traditional supermarket operators in the United States, according to Supermarket Business. In September, Publix announced plans to expand its reach by opening stores in Kentucky by 2023.
