Sam’s Club offers a ‘free’ membership deal now

Ken Walter /

Warehouse club shopping allows you to get more groceries on fewer trips – a real plus during a prolonged pandemic. Now, Sam’s Club makes the process of signing up for membership even more tempting.

Buy a one-year Sam’s Club membership for $45, and you’ll get a free $45 Sam’s Club e-gift card. This basically makes your membership free, minus any taxes you might owe.

This offer is available until October 3, 2021.

To take advantage of this offer, sign up for a one-year online membership. In about four weeks, Sam’s Club will email your gift card to you at the address you provided when you signed up for membership.

Just take care of the fine print:

  • This offer only applies to Sam’s Club Standard Membership (which costs $45 per year), not the Plus Membership (which costs $100 per year and comes with more benefits).
  • You must join Sam’s Club online through the web page referring to this offer.
  • The Gift Card cannot be used to purchase membership or certain other services.
  • By taking advantage of this offer, you allow for annual recurring costs of any registered card for your Sam’s Club membership fee. So, make sure to cancel your membership before it gets renewed if you don’t want it to renew automatically.

If you’re still not sure if a Sam’s Club membership is right for you even when it’s actually free, see “How to Shop at Sam’s Club Without a Membership.”
