We all have a story (or two) to tell. It can earn you money.
Chicken Soup for the Soul accepts stories and poems for inclusion in upcoming books. If selected, you will receive a check for $200.
In the early 1990s, two famous motivational speakers put together a book full of inspiring stories.
According to the company’s website, “They called it chicken soup for the soul because they wanted it to soothe and provide comfort, just like their grandmothers cooked.”
The company eventually expanded its selection and has since published more than 250 titles in the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series which has sold more than 500 million copies worldwide. The books focus on specific topics such as faith, raising children and cats.

- Create emotion in the reader.
- Come from the heart.
- No more than 1200 words.
- Not be a resume, term paper, thesis, letter, or journal entry.
- Don’t be about politics or anything controversial.

- Tell a story that helps the reader learn about your experience but in the form of poetry.
- Don’t focus on the rhyme or sound like a greeting card.

How do you submit your entry?
Submitting your post is easy. Simply fill out this online form, add your story or poem to the correct field, and hit submit.
After submitting the form, you’ll see a confirmation message on your screen that the publisher has received your entry. Thats all about it!
Well, not exactly. There is still something else to do, and it may be the most difficult.
Type your entry into a computer application like Google Docs that automatically saves your work as you go, then paste it into the submission form to avoid losing your file if your browser crashes unexpectedly.
It may take a long time for the publisher to respond to you. The site explains: “We’ve had thousands of orders for each book and only have room for 101 pieces, so please don’t take our silence personally!”
If your story or poem is selected, you will receive an email asking for express consent to publish your work.
One month after publication, you will receive 10 copies of the book and a check for $200.
If you have an experience you’d like to share, turn on your computer or pull out your notebook and get to work.
